Single-pass or scanning: where should you start?
Choose the printing process around your material, artwork and production workflow.
Start with the material
Tell your supplier what the substrate is made of, its coating, dimensions and thickness. A print test on the actual material is more useful than a generic list of supported substrates.
Understand the print movement
In a typical single-pass system, the material moves beneath a fixed printhead arrangement. Scanning systems build the image through carriage movement. Compare the relevant machines using the same artwork and quality target.
Check the complete workflow
Confirm feeding, drying or curing, output handling and maintenance requirements. Ask for a continuous demonstration using representative samples.
Compare the quoted configuration
Record the included printheads, software, inks, accessories, training and warranty terms. A matching model name does not guarantee matching equipment.
